About Me

Hi, I'm Mary Sunshine
Born in Cameroon, I was shaped by a rich cultural background and the strength of my family—especially the women who led the way. My mother, though deaf, was always the life of the party, and she taught me that joy and connection are universal. My grandmother, an immigrant who opened a successful Cameroonian restaurant in a new country, instilled in me the values of determination, drive, and the importance of community.
I moved to Germany with my family as a toddler, and that transition had a profound impact on me. Growing up in Germany, I had the opportunity to embrace both my Cameroonian heritage and the vibrant culture of my new home. I’ve always found my way to the stage—whether performing as a child or hosting and planning unforgettable events. My journey into hosting began in 2008 when I was unexpectedly asked to host a club contest. What started as a last-minute role quickly became my passion. My stage name, "Mary Sunshine," came from my aunt, who told me when I was 10 years old, "Whenever you walk into a room, it's like the sun comes up." That warmth and energy became the foundation of everything I do.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of hosting major events and concerts in Germany, sharing the stage with artists like Tyga, Future, and the Ying Yang Twins. I’ve also hosted fashion shows, debates, fundraisers, talent shows, and more. But as I gained experience, I realized I had the ability to create more purposeful and intentional events that truly connect people.
In 2016, my husband and I had a conversation at home that would change everything. We decided to create an event together, and within a month, I had booked the venue, found performers, and set the date. That was when I officially transitioned into event planning. One of the events I’m most proud of is "Meeting of the Souls"—an open mic night designed to give performers a safe space to showcase their art, with no club distractions. The event became a community favorite and sparked new collaborations, friendships, and business relationships.
Now based in Houston, I continue to host and plan events that bring joy, laughter, and connection. Whether it’s music bingo, karaoke, private celebrations, or custom event planning, my mission remains the same: to create events that feel like magic and leave people feeling seen, valued, and connected.
